One of the surprising revelations on E3 2021 was Redfall, a cooperative shooter from Arkane Austin, studying for the critically acclaimed Dishnored series. Arkane has a reputation for not doing “normal” shooters, but instead chooses to enforce genre conventions with each new release, and Redfall is no exception.
Redfall, referred to as an open-air vampire hunting game, puts players in the skin of a reluctant team of survivors trapped in Redfall, MA. When the small town is surrounded by a powerful faction of vampires and werewolves, the remaining survivors are forced to put up resistance in whatever way they have at their disposal. Fortunately, these resources include a variety of high-performance firearms, abilities, and robotic chicken.
Redfall releases Xbox Game Studios, which naturally means that the game is exclusive to Microsoft-owned platforms. No word has yet been said about whether the game will eventually make its way to other platforms, and not all we know is that when launched in 2022, Redfall will only be available for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series S / X. It is not yet clear whether the PC version of Redfall will be available on Steam or the Epic Games Store, or exclusively through Bethesda’s own launcher, although it seems unlikely.
