Sifu was first introduced in early 2021, during the February presentation of Sony of State State of Play. This is the latest game from Sloclap, the studio behind Absolver. Sifu – unlike many other fighting games and beat-em-ups – uses more fighting combat with an emphasis on countering and timing versus memorizing long combined strings. The visual is also striking, and instead of striving for hyperrealism or anime style, it evokes a more comic book atmosphere.
The July Presentation of the current state demonstrated even greater playability in the form of a trailer that focused on the aging protagonist between the ages of 40 and 54. As his age increases, he shows how he continues to fight various enemies, some of whom are completely destroyed by the older warrior, while others are doing surprisingly well against him. Places range from nightclubs, to kitchens, to museums, etc. And interestingly, the protagonist can even use weapons such as a baseball bat.
The biggest mystery, however, was when the game would actually come out. According to the new trailer, the Sifu, which was expected to be released in 2021, will instead launch sometime in 2022, although no exact date has been released at the time. We also know that the title will come on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
