Sega has finally confirmed the release date of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. The release of an expansion / remake / new game (depending on your interpretation) is scheduled for June 9.
This game will be available after scheduled maintenance, which has now been moved forward. This will also cause changes to the dates and content of the “The Road to NEW GENESIS Event” bonus event. More information will be announced later.
New Genesis is actually a complete remake of the game and will be a complete standalone title. There is also a huge amount of new content for eager players to immerse yourself in.
If you’re concerned about losing access to an existing version of PSO2, Sega has alleviated those concerns. After launching the game in 2021, everyone will have access to the original version of PSO2 and its update to New Genesis. Unlike the rest of PSO2, which has been available in Japan since 2012, a new Genesis is expected to be released with the current global launch.
The closed beta version for New Genesis takes registration in Japan until January 4. Sega plans to upgrade the current visuals in the original version of PSO2 to allow smooth movement of characters between PSO2 and NG. New Genesis arrives on PC and Xbox One, Sega promises to improve the Xbox Series X in the future.
