Larian Studios will release the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 patch next week.
According to the latest Panel From Hell studio, Patch Five for Baldur ‘s Gate 3 will include major updates and enhancements while expanding both the “width and depth” of the game.
Next week, you’ll discover new “game mechanics,” lots of combat and AI enhancements, visual weapons and kinematics enhancements, a greater focus on role-playing, and more Owlbear Cub content. With the update, you’ll also take an “enticing step” to uncover the mysteries of Shadowheart.
Full notes of Patch 5 will be released on Tuesday, July 13, when it comes out. Some points of interest were provided:
- Active scrolling system
- During the skill checks, in Patch 5, instead of letting you at the mercy of the RNG gods during the skill check, we ensure that players now have many more agencies. An active roll gives players the ability to change odds in their favor with spells and bonuses on their rolls. In addition, players can now see how their modifiers and status effects take place directly in the user interface, instead of counting in the background.
- Goals background
- Players could always choose “Backgrounds” on the Character Creation screen – Folk Hero, Acolyte, Urchin, etc. Now each character will have their own series of secret mini-quests based on these roles, called Background Targets. So whenever Folk Hero does something Folksy and Heroic or Urchin does something Urchina, he will be rewarded. It’s a new way to encourage role-playing, where players can directly benefit from acting the way their characters would play in a given scenario.
- Camp supplies
- Camp Resources are a new feature that will make you think a little more strategically about when to activate Long Rest. Now, in order to camp, you need supplies first. Do you know all the food and leftovers you will find in the game? From now on, you will need it for complete relaxation. Finally use it for your huge treasure of dead fish. Also included in this patch are Mini Camps, context-sensitive environments that offer an alternative to returning to your headquarters by the river. From the chapel near the ravaged beach to the Underdark, we have re-created each landmark as its own isolated place, accessible to when you are ready to lull your long rest.
Larian also gave the AI a “serious tuning” and you will find that the enemies are smarter and more inventive than before. Now they pick up the discarded weapons and enemies, such as goblins, give each other potions of health.
Other enhancements to Patch 5 include Non-Lethal Attack Mode, point and click dialog, and new story content centered around a “specific party member.”
Full patch notes will be released again on Tuesday the 13th.
