Crystal dynamics revealed several new art concepts for Marvel’s Avengers extension, War of Wakanda, which demonstrates more space and paves the way for the upcoming DLC offering.
If you’ve been patiently waiting to hear more information about the War for Wakanda DLC, which has been described in detail for the game, in the Square Enix showcase on the E3 2021, you’re in luck: the developer has shown a set of conceptual art for expansions “Update with Devs” live broadcast.
In the pictures below (courtesy of avengers_acy on Twitter), you can see some Wakandy biomes that we explore, including a wooded area, a suburban city, a temple, and a waterfall / monument. You’ll notice that the shot of the Black Panther standing on the way out and exploring the city is similar to the shot the studio used in the demonstration trailer, showing how important conceptual art is in setting the mood and tone.
Take a look at the pictures below and compare them with the revealed trailer at the bottom of the page.
Unsurprisingly, Black Panther: War for Wakanda adds Black Panther as a playable character who must defend Wakanda from Klaw, who is trying to steal Vibranium from the region. The DLC will introduce Wakandan Jungle Biome, new enemies of the Klaw faction and others – but information about the expansion still remains relatively small.
We know that developers will take inspiration from the very early source material Black Panther – even direct inspiration the hero’s outfit from the very beginning of his incorporation into the Marvel universe.
The Black Panther: War for Wakanda expansion comes to Marvel’s Avengers in August, but no specific release date has been confirmed yet.
