One of the challenges in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 Week 1 is to upgrade weapons on upgrade benches. Yes, the upgrade benches came back into play after several seasons.
They can be found again on the whole map, close to named places and monuments. Things are a little different this time because we no longer need materials to upgrade weapons. Weapon upgrades now cost gold instead. See the map below for the locations of the various upgrade benches in Chapter 2, Season 7.
Gold this season can be obtained from eliminated enemies, looting chests and quests. Tasks can be picked up from seasonal NPCs or from payphones and rewards that are distributed throughout the map.
As always, the tasks give you a condition that you must achieve, such as loot a certain item or knocked out with a certain weapon, and when you do, you will receive gold in return. Upgrading a weapon on an upgrade bench costs 200 gold, so it’s not cheap.
When you find a bench, communicate with it, select the weapon you want to upgrade, and then pay the gold to make it happen. You must do this three times to complete it, so you will need at least 600 gold.
