You start the game with the ability to collect these dice, but you quickly find that it is too big to fit through the door. This is where the first new DLC mechanic comes into play.
Throw the chick away and then hit him with an ax. You may be surprised that the cube shrinks to a small size. Now you can easily pick it up and walk through the door. Take the pressure plate, place it on top and then hit it again with an ax. This will make it bigger again, pushing on the plate and opening the door, allowing you to get the treasure contained inside.
It’s a subtle introduction to mechanics that will no doubt be very important during DLC, but it can still be confusing.
