Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are developing a film based on the successful video game Ghost of Tsushima.
According to the deadline, film adaptation Duch Tsushima will be directed by Chad Stahelski by John Wick.
Stahelski, Alex Young and Jason Spitz produce through 87Eleven Entertainment. Produced by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions, Sucker Punch Productions will act as producers.
“We are excited to partner with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment to bring their vision of Jin’s story to the big screen,” Qizilbash said. “We enjoy working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games and ensure that we can create rich adaptations that will delight our fans and new audiences.”
Sony is currently very busy with adaptations: next year will come the film Uncharted and the HBO series based on The Last of Us.
Sucker Punch has sold 6.5 million copies since its release in July 2020, according to Sony. In the three days since the sale, it has sold more than 2.4 million units worldwide, making it the fast-selling first-party IP debut on the PS4. By November 2020, more than 5 million copies of the game had been sold.
