A free update to the new generation of Doom Eternal will be available in June.

June 29, report of a free update on Doom Eternal was shared during the Xbox + Bethesda showcase, which took place earlier today.

This free update optimizes Doom Eternal for next-generation consoles and offers improved visuals, higher performance, and support for beam tracking or 4K resolution at 60 FPS or optional 120 FPS mode.

The next generation update also comes on the PC and will include ray tracing on compatible machines.

Here is the breakdown:

Xbox Series X.

  • Power mode: 1800p – 120 FPS
  • Balanced mode: 2160p – 60 FPS
  • Beam tracking mode: 1800p – 60 FPS

Xbox Series S.

  • Power mode: 1080p – 120 FPS
  • Balanced mode: 1440p – 60 FPS
  • Beam tracking mode: Not available

PlayStation 5

  • Power mode: 1584p – 120 FPS
  • Balanced mode: 2160p – 60 FPS
  • Beam tracking mode: 1800p – 60 FPS

PC

  • Beam Tracking Mode: Availability and performance depend on computer hardware

All modes are equipped with dynamic resolution scaling. Balanced and power modes are not available with Ray Tracing.

The power mode will also require a 120 Hz compatible display, while the balanced mode will require a 4K compatible display.
