How to harvest Mutagel in ARK

In Genesis: Part 2, there are several places where you can harvest Mutagel:

  • On amber asteroids.
  • On black pearl asteroids.

  • IN Rockwell’s Innards biome, in an acid pool under Rockwell’s heart. Here you can harvest Mutagel by hand as soon as the acid recedes.

Alternatively, if you have a replacement Mutagen lying down, you can use the Chemical Bench to convert the four units back to 408 Mutagel.

How to convert Mutagel to Mutagen?

Mutagel can be used to make Mutagen on a Chemical Bench. You need 800 Mutagel units to make six Mutagens.

The mutagen is used to tame Voidwyrms and can be used to further develop existing tame creatures.

How to tame Tek Stryders in ARK

Tek Stryders are tamed using a unique nonviolent method: crochet is using Mutagel.

To tame Tek Stryder, you must meet the following requirements with exact numbers by creature level:

  • Have the required amount of Mutagel attached to 0 on the Hotbar.
  • They deleted the required number of missions.

To successfully hack Tek Stryder, you must complete a hacker minigame where you connect lines of code, all while staying close to the creature. You may need to target a specific part of your body to initiate a hack.

Success in one phase of the minigame increases taming efficiency and speeds up the process; on failure, resets taming to zero. You can go through as many stages as you need to tame the Tek Stryder if it is not destroyed first.

The benefits of a tamed Tek Stryder

Tame Tek Stryders are incredibly helpful. Even without the equipment, the rigs have a saddle (on which you can build), a sleeping module and a transmitter; can recharge the batteries in its inventory; and can be used to replant leaves where they pass. It can also be connected to a dedicated Tek repository.

Thanks to equipped sets, the tame Tek Stryder can take on offensive and defensive combat roles, reap resources and watch other creatures (including other players).
